Pulp is the low-cost raw material used for papermaking and is mainly categorized into Wood Pulp, Non-wood Pulp and Recycled Pulp.   • Recycled Pulp: Recycled pulp is made from used paper or paper products by chemically processing them and is known to be one of the safest cost-effective raw-material in paper manufacturing

Paper Strength and thickness

Whether it’s used for printing, packaging, hygiene purpose or any other use, each paper type requires different strength and durability to carry out its function effectively. A significant factor of all grades of paper is its resistance to break when exposed to various pressures. The paper must be strong enough to allow efficient handling. The weight and quality of a paper is determined by grams per square meter, usually abbreviated as GSM. The heavier the paper, the higher the GSM number. Below mentioned are some of the commonly used GSM units for different paper products.

10 - 35 GSM: This paperweight is typical unit that is used for toilet paper and soft tissues as the lower number is ideal for thinner paper.

35 – 70 GSM: Most paper towels, book pages and newspapers are printed on this paper thickness which is indeed thin.

90 - 120gsm: This paperweight is common for desktop printer as well as for letter heads, compliment slips etc for producing a moderately light and thin printed document. This paper is also known as offset paper and its uncoated rough surface are suitable to write on.

120 - 170gsm: This paperweight range is most used for brochures, posters or cheaper flyer printing. Perfect for high-quality color images, restaurant takeaway menus are also commonly printed with this paperweight as it is budget option.

170 - 300gsm: Best suited for premium flyers or invitations as it is gives more thicker and high-quality feeling to the paper. Offering pleasant texture and excellent colour rendering, this suitable to print on gloss, satin or matte finish as per the paper.

300 - 400gsm: A perfect option for business cards, book covers, presentation folders and greeting card printing. This is impressively thick and delivers a high-quality impact with its superior finish.

400 gsm: This unit is common for the cardboards used for packaging, inflexible book covers, counter displays and product tags.
